Available in both Full Carbon 6K and Composite Carbon versions, the Commander 2 features three shell sizes and a broad size range to ensure a precise, comfortable fit. Vision is elevated through the ultra-wide visor, ofering maximum field of view, while the A3S (Airoh Automatic Antifog System) and visor locking mechanism ensure added safety. This is the most expensive helmet I’ve ever purchased. My previous 2 were the same model (Scorpion AT950). Overall, I’d say it’s worth the money and is a great helmet.
My head measures 58 cm so I got the medium and it fits well. A little snug during the break-in, but no hot spots or discomfort. It’s an intermediate-oval shape. If it was too tight, I like knowing that I could get the size large pads for that shell size to give me more room.
Its noticeably lighter and quieter than my precious helmet. The field of view is huge. The flip-down sun shield is a must-have for me. These things alone make it worth the money for me. I thought the visor/peak would bother me at higher speeds, but after a few rides, including highway (80mph), I didn’t notice it catching air or making noise, so I’m keeping it on.
Some other things that I particularly like:
The way the face shield can lock in the closed position or be left with a super tiny gap. The gap allows some airflow to cool the helmet more and prevent fogging but is small enough to not add any wind noise.
The extras included - Pinlock lens, chin skirt, which I always use, and attachments for action cams. The attachments work with existing features on the helmet, so you don’t have to “stick” anything to the helmet surface.
Good integration for a headset. Pop out padding over the carved-out spots for the speakers. Integrated cable and microphone routing.
Minor things I would change:
I wish the internal sun shield was a little darker.
I don’t like the placement of the sun shield slider. It’s right where I would attach my headset via a clip, so I don’t have to stick it on. Because of the slider placement I’ll be forced to stick it on above the slider, if it fits there. I might try the AIROH AWC 2 comm system, but it’s about twice as much as I usually spend.
This has to be one of the nicest ADV helmets on the market. I wanted the full carbon but it was out of stock so I settled for the carbon composite. My friend ordered the full carbon Klim Krios and it was only slightly lighter. The Airoh features and design was a huge step up from the Krios - built-in comms pockets with wire channels and the way the visor attaches. I also had a full carbon Leatt 9.5 ADV that I ordered and sent it back. Airoh is the way to go. Would have loved to have been able to order the full carbon.
Lightweight and comfortable, has great support behind the neck and Helped with wind noise too!
LOVE IT!
Removal of peak is tedious. Requires several covers to fill holes/gap when peak is removed -- that don't install easily. Large helmet seems too tight, not true to size. Riding with face shield up more that 20 mph has annoying whistle. Has overly loud wind noise. Goggles don't fit or fasten well to the helmet seal to the face well. I think this helmet is valued about half of what I paid.
